Round 2 for my styling journey with the lovely Axel…

So we introduced you to Axel a little while ago and now to show you him in action :)

So Axel turns up at my house.. gosh is he ready to experience my really bad wardrobe!! First he asks me what I like… hmm to which he gets my random brain dump to get his head round.  Actually I don’t think I have ever thought about it properly. So into the wardrobe we go.. firstly the wardrobe is not very organised so hard for Axel to know where to start…

So he asks me what I like, what do I think, what could you put that with it… arr all back to me, I thought Axel was supposed to be the stylist!  However I eventually understand what he was trying to do.. empower me to make decisions. So we spent a couple of hours looking at what could go with what.. things I had never thought about.. suddenly my wardrobe didn’t seem so dull after all, but yes it still needs work. The session allowed Axel to get a real feel of what I had and the gaps.. as well as making me think for the first time.

Introducing Axel – Our Very Own Emerging Fervour Super-Stylist

Well, the team at Emerging Fervour were thinking that they needed a little help to make the most of their wardrobe… which is when we met the lovely and incredibly talented emerging stylist, Axel.

A little background to Axel first, don’t worry – you’re going to get to know him very well over the coming months with contributions and collaborations between us. Axel actually wanted to be a fashion designer to start with but wasn’t inspired by the finer details of putting clothes together from start to finish. Then it came to him… he realised that his passion was making clothes and accessories work together.. (already designed and produced!) and so the natural progression from this was styling.

What’s great about Axel is that he works with your personal style but empowers you so that eventually (after a few sessions) you have the ability to style yourself… you just need to be given the tools and know-how and you’re there! He looks at your wardrobe and makes it feel like the clothes are new again by mixing stuff together you wouldn’t think would work and then by helping you buy new pieces that can be mixed to create lots of new outfits… I love it!!

Axel’s background in retail, performing arts and musical theatre led him to work during fashion shows, which led him to where he is now, making people look amazing. Stay tuned for my personal styling adventure over the coming weeks, we hope that it may inspire some of our readers to get styled!

In the meantime you probably saw Jeffrey Michael on our Ada Zanditon blog – spot him in the audience with the glowing specs (we met during LFW and then again at the fabulous Miss Kiki Salon party – more on this soon!) Well Jeffrey is in fact one of Axel’s clients and we have an interview for Emerging Fervour with Jeffrey and Axel chatting about what else but FASHION! :)

Jeffrey and Axel at Emerging Fervour

Axel: What’s your general Style?

Jeffrey: Like before I met you? Well, Casual Organic. Throw in a glitzy piece now and then. I like Sparkles.

Who do you look at for Style Inspiration?

Jeffrey: Alexander McQueen was and still is a massive inspiration for me, professionally and creatively he knew how to make people feel good. He was my Idol. Now I have to find someone else that talented to emulate and keep Alexander McQueen alive in my style. I love Tom Ford, his Collections are always classic, chic and sexy and he knows how to make men look good. And his glasses are orgasmic. Also Mark Sheppard, a fabulous Canadian Drag Queen (www.marksheppardcreative.com), makes me think of other things, especially when I go to try on his entire wardrobe. And honestly you, I love your style.

Why did you want a Stylist?

Jeffrey: I always felt like I was behind in style. I didn’t know how to put trends together in a way that suited me. I love different trends but couldn’t work them myself. I’m really adventurous and creative but sometimes when you are creative, you can’t work yourself. I admit that I have a default outfit and I have a lot of things on my mind so instantly jump to it for ease. I just wanted to be fabulous. No person walks out of the door thinking ‘I want to be ugly’, its either a lack of time or lack of creativity. So I thought, I’ll get a Stylist. :)

What have you learnt so far from being styled?
