Big names, small ideas…
I feel that lately it’s all been “moan, bitch and moan some more” coming from me… but I can’t help it – I can’t stay quiet when I see something undeserving of any positive press. First it was about the annoying Cecilia Cassini, then about Pete Doherty and his new jewellery line and now it’s about Prada and their ‘exclusive’ lettering project. Like many of you reading this, I like people – especially designers and musicians, to get recognition for something really amazing, wonderful and unique. This is what forms the basis of Emerging Fervour and this basis shall remain for as long as EF lives.
I’m all for big names in fashion. If you can afford it, then good for you – but frankly some things are just bad taste and there purely to make money, nothing more, nothing less. For example, the Prada Lettering Project is just one of a long list of such things that I intend to bitch and moan about in months and years to come, I’m sure.
Beirut calling – Bags
I’ve just come back from Beirut after spending a couple of weeks grazing out there whilst the lovely Nat has been blogging every day the trooper! My trip wasn’t just a holiday though, it was in preparation for my permanent move out there in the next couple of months – yes, my secret destination is Beirut city! None of my friends believe that I’m actually doing it this time; it’s pretty much been the same story since graduating – but it really is happening – promise!
Deciding to move wasn’t an easy task…but my 2 weeks there finally convinced me that this was a challenge I was up for…the middle-east’s fashion capital!
Downtown Beirut
Souks in Beirut
In a series of blogs, we’ll explore the the fashion and lifestyle do’s and don’ts in this small city, preparing me for what’s to come.
Bag Ladies
There are 2 types of females in Beirut. Those who are driven by designer brands and the rest of us who are content to explore.
What’s in your wardrobe: Deborah Clements
Some of you know Deborah as the beautiful-handbag designer behind Clements and the author of our ‘Secret Diary of a Handbag Designer‘ posts. Oh, and the one who designed our super hot logo. Fresh-faced and bronzed having just come back from her South African wedding, Deborah is all ready to brave the colder climate and show us her keep-warm Spring(ish!) wardrobe.
