Zurich does ‘Flashmobshop’
As Sara is sussing out the Lebanese fashion world, I’m starting off dipping my toes into the Swiss one. It started last week with my rant about the Zurich Fashion Days which I left well behind when I went to check out ‘Flashmobshop‘, their first ever pop-up store in Zurich. A 2 day exhibition for DIY-activists, designers, artists and small labels. A platform to show and sell objects & collections of emerging designers! Fabulous and just what I was hankering after!
The pop-up store was installed in a little shop where they usually sell trophies and the goodies were all around them – some a bit hidden but nonetheless gems! It was a joy to such uniqueness!

My favourite things were these dolls & snoods everywhere – the dolls are so funny and would be hillarious to have them plotted around and the snoodes, oh where do I start? So comfy, so practical (I keep being told how freezing it will get) and the options of different patterns & wool is endless!!
Emerging Fervour gets interviewed
The lovely people at Qype asked Nat and I to be interviewed for their feature on bloggers. If you haven’t checked out our link on Facebook, we’ve got some of the interview here.
Qype: Can you tell Qypers who you are and what you do?
Sara: Hello! I’m Sara and I co-founded Emerging Fervour with Nathalie. We used to work together at a creative agency as project managers (she was my boss) and one thing led to another and our mutual passion for fashion gave us the idea to start our own blog and write about all the amazing things we find.
Nathalie: I’m Nathalie and when I don’t play with the fashion world, I am a project consultant for anything digital. I used to be a developer and then moved into project management but having worked over 10 years in digital agencies, last year I decided to go it alone to see where it can take me as a contractor. A decision I’ve not regretted, and the best bit is, it’s given me a lot of extra time which I am able to dedicate to Emerging Fervour.
Qype: What prompted you to start your blog, and what elements do you think have contributed to it becoming so popular?
Sara: I remember talking to Nat one day about emerging designers, and how it’s really difficult finding them online and how amazing it would be if we put together that information and share it with people like us. We really started the blog to share all the great emerging designers and musicians because they’re just too amazing to be missed – the spotlight needs to be shared between the emergings and established, they need a platform too.
Nathalie: That was definitely the driving force. I think it might also be popular because we write from the heart, we write about our passion which makes it easy to find content and we just have a go at it. We might not have a formal background in fashion, but what we lack for in experience, we make up for in passion! We also have a few bloggers writing for us, so our readers get different views from the emerging music scene.
Will you go maxi this summer?
You might remember Tracey’s review of her Isabella Oliver reversible coat last year which was a staple in her wardrobe this winter and oh so needed! I’ve stumbled across Isabella Oliver quite some time ago and although known for their maternity wear, their 365 collection is a hidden gem!
Lovely fabrics, cuts and versatile garments make these investment pieces. So you can imagine how excited I was when I got to choose a piece from their current spring/summer 10 collection and with a maxi dress craze going on as well as the sun being out, I went for the ‘Rebecca Maxi Dress’.
Actually it wasn’t really my decision but Tracey’s as she convinced me to go with something different. I wouldn’t have chosen this shape or colour, I never thought I’d own something tangerine! But I’m glad I did and putting on the dress, I instantly felt amazing. The jersey material clings at the right places and feels unbelievably comfortable, I want to sleep in it!! It’s definitely going to come out many times as with most maxis you can dress them up or down, it’s the perfect piece for money conscious people (I know, I know… it doesn’t really count as a justification).
So for me all that is left is to wait for a tan and if you like the thought of a maxi dress, check out these lovely jersey dresses I’ve come across:
Emerging Fervour tries Fat Face
When we got asked by Fat Face if we wanted to review their ‘Carrot Jeans’ we didn’t have to be asked twice!! But with Jeans it’s always the same, they can look amazing on one person (or figure), yet completely wrong on another. So luckily Fat Face gave us to chance to test the jeans on a couple of shapes!! And here is what we thought:

When I first heard we had to try out carrot jeans I was mortified!! Why? I had flashbacks to the early nineties where my mum forced me to wear not only carrot shaped jeans but also carrot coloured ones and oh they did not look good on me.
On top of that it has been a good 10 years since I’ve owned any pairs of jeans without my trusted 2% elastane as I find jeans usually get stuck on my thighs or are stupidly loose on my waist – either way they look all wrong (as far as I’m concerned) so I’ve given up on following jeans trends a long time ago.
