Blurred Vision from Prose

Prose was created in 2008 by Sabine Egler and Miriam Lehle, both from Germany – and where Prose Studio is based…

I saw their work at On|Off during London Fashion week and just fell in love with the eclectic and bold designs and thought I’d share…

Block colours and striking prints

Do my arms look big in these?

I love these colours separately, but mixed together like this explosion is just beautiful!

You can check out the rest of their collection on their site at www.prose-studio.com, join their Facebook page or contact them at info@prose-studio.com for further info on their collection.

Jacob Kimmie and the Pilgrim collection

The last of Saturday’s catwalks, Jacob Kimmie’s show had everyone sitting up and frantically snapping away at their cameras regardless of how cold and somewhat bedraggled this hardcore audience were feeling!

There couldn’t have been a better setting for this “ritual dressing and modern temples” inspired collection than the Freemasons HQ, and Jacob Kimmie is certainly one to watch…

The invite looked like a rough briefing sheet for the show, with details on the inspiration – ritual dressing, fabrics – feathers, wool, leather, silhouette and music – American Gospel house and minimalist tribal dance.

The modern Aztec, Inca temples and religious rituals inspiration have been the basis for Kimmie to create a mood of enlightenment and spirituality. He’s also focused on stripping away frivolity to show adornment in a primitive way resulting in a primal couture-like collection. The glamour just oozes from this collection – we love it!

Confessions of a clueless mind

Hello, my name is Claudia and I’m sort of a fashion victim. I don’t know the difference between Haute couture and prêt á porter (and I’m sure there is one). My trainers are probably the most expensive and fashionable things I’m wearing. I’d rather have band names than brand names on my shirts. And when I talk about seasons I mean something you can watch on the telly. So you’re maybe asking yourself why someone like me is allowed to write for a fashion blog. And you absolutely have a point there. The explanation is simple: No, I didn’t hack into the blog, I usually write about music for Emerging Fervour.

But then there was last week, I mean THE last week. The London Fashion Week. And yes, I went there. I went to the London Fashion Week. And here is the story of my adventure: lost in fashion.

Orschel-Read

24.02.2010 at Vauxhall Fashion Scout

Stéfan Orschel-Read presented his AW/10 collection “Fågeln” on 24.02.10 at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Inspired by the beauty of female birds (Fågeln is Swedish for bird) Orschel Read showed classic but subtle shapes in mainly earthy colours and tweeds. I liked the way he sometimes suggested some sort of wings with his designs. And although he used colours with a more heavy character, the pieces looked light and flowing. Probably because I’m a girl, I was quite impressed by the “jewellery” the models were wearing. They looked like a mixture of dreamcatchers, Tibetan prayer equipment and something you should rather put on a wall. Wicked!

Batman meets Alice Palmer

Alice Palmer Presented her ‘Batman’ AW2010 Collection on Sunday at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout and it finished our third day at the London Fashion Week.

This season Alice has found inspiration from a range of concepts including the technologically advanced engineering of the Batmobile, the strong shapes and structures of Anish Kapoor with an added touch of punk rock edginess.

It is certainly knitwear with a twist and an edge. One word of advice, be careful hugging some of the models!

Here are some of my favourites but if that’s not enough, you can view all catwalk pictures on Flickr.

Amanda Wakeley AW/10 show at LFW

I was very excited about this catwalk as it was my first in Somerset House and I wondered how a big show would feel. It felt exciting and didn’t disappoint. Since my Amanda Wakeley styling experience I’ve become to love her ready wear and knew there would be something I could fall in love with. By the looks of the buyers in the front row, they seemed to feel the same as they scribbled frantically into their notebooks.

Although some might say it’s too safe and ready-wear for them, the clever draping on dresses and material like scuba, you just know you’ll look good and you feel comfortable in them, I would go straight back for another styling session. My highlights were definitely the silk catsuit and the brown mini leather dress, yum, I want them!

Here are some of my favourites but if that’s not enough, you can view all catwalk pictures on Flickr.

Any dress with a hood gets my thumbs up!!

Doii Paris AW10 show at LFW

Doii Paris showed in London for the first time and as I’ve seen her Spring/Summer collection days before I was so excited to see her on the catwalk! And I wasn’t disappointed.

Each design had something special and compared to many other catwalks you could take the collection away and wear it. Her garments are super feminine and I love the way fabrics, patterns and sequins are playfully put together. It was such a nice and airy sight as most catwalks were dominated by grey & black.

Here are some of my favourites but if that’s not enough, you can view all catwalk pictures on Flickr.

The pattern on this coat were sequin skulls and it looks amazing! One of my favourites.

Check out her Spring/Summer collection on her website (www.doiiparis.com) as it’s as nice as the Autumn/Winter.

As with all our photos we’re always happy to share, but please contact us before and name Emerging Fervour as your source, and Mindy Coe as the photographer.

Ada Zanditon A/W 10 Show at LFW

It’s fantastic that we have fabulous photographer friends who help us out with these amazing catwalks we were invited to. We went to the Ada Zanditon show on Tuesday Feb 23rd, and I took my friend Iman with me. She takes really good photos and has one of those fancy Nikon cameras…proper professional we are.

After waiting around in a massive 3-columned queue for about an hour, we finally moved and slowly creeped towards the doors to the huge room. A blessing in disguise, the back row gave Iman the opportunity to clamber onto the ledge behind her and take some nice shots. You can take a look at Flickr for lots more photographs of the show.

Please note: No one was injured as a result of taking these photographs

I really like the jackets, I like the whole over-sized idea and a lot of my favourite jackets are BIG. I also love the accents of bright colours – it’s such a refreshing thing to see after the wave of darkness throughout LFW this February. Don’t get me wrong, dark is good – but colour is priceless.

What was there to see at the Kinder Aggugini AW 10 show?

The anticipation for this catwalk really heightened when I experienced the full force of the LFW pecking order but when I managed to get in along with the rest of “the hopefuls” I was SO glad I swallowed all pride and waited in the naughty corner.

Have a look at some pictures from the Kinder Aggugini AW 10 show I saw on Saturday 20th. Check out our Flickr for lots more images of the show.
