To all designers out there – jumpstart Your Creative Enterprise

Bit short notice but this sounds like an amazing opportunity for emerging designers, actually anyone in the fashion industry!!
The company Blurb, which is known to provide all the tools you need to make your own photo book has launched their first ever pop up store today. They are not only offering free workshops but there will be guest speakers & special events. So not only will you get the opportunity to see how your collection could look in a coffee book (how beautiful would that be?!?!) but there are some amazing talks that are so relevant to you.
Event 1: Jumpstart Your Creative Enterprise – Friday, 5 November
The first one being this Thursday as Blurb is teaming up with Etsy and Moo to provide you marketing know-how for freelancers & small business owners. You’ll be taught why branding is important, even for the tiniest crafty shop. They’ll have workshops throughout the day on everything from how to take professional photos of your products to examples of creative, effective and DIY branding in action. And, of course, we’ll be giving a bespoke bookmaking seminar.
Who said the girl can’t talk?

Luckily ‘Girl Can’t Talk’ can!! And she’s taken some time out to answer some questions we’ve sent her way. Kathy, who’s a full time fashion design student at London College of Fashion, has woken our interest as although she’s insanely busy having just started her degree as a women Womenswear Designer / Pattern Cutter, she’s found the time to design some amazing accessories which we already raved about a few months ago.
Tell us a bit about how it all started, why fashion, when did you realise you wanted to become a designer?
Girl Can’t Talk: I’m very much starting out as a designer and its all a learning curve for me. I’ve always loved drawing and creating, there’s many photographs of me as a child wearing newspaper and sellotape costumes I’d created and I guess I’ve loved to create since then. I was given the gift of a sewing machine from my boyfriend a few years ago and started to make accessories and re-work vintage clothes and make simple garments and so my Etsy store evolved from there.
The Girl Can’t Talk, but she can certainly design!
This London based accessories designer, fashion blogger, and style addict has come to my attention because of her amazing blog Girl Can’t Talk (content & design wise)! But then it got even better as we’ve realised there is more to Kathy than just blogging!
Her collection of handmade, avant garde fashion accessories are incredible. From feathers to real human hair they will turn any top or dress you have into a statement piece. Maybe not everyday wear (although why not?), with a price tag under £50 (the human hair one is even under £25) for lovingly, handmade accessories there is no excuse not to have at least one of those in your wardrobe.
