ECO-FASHION DESIGNERS PARTIMI AND JOANNA CAVE COLLABORATE IN NEW SS11 COLLECTION
I came across PARTIMI at a LFW exhibit dedicated to eco-fashion designers called Estethica. I was drawn in by the beautiful prints and by the energy and enthusiasm of designer Eleanor Dorrien-Smith. She was so passionate about her designs and eco-fashion that I had to talk to her about her new SS 11ʼ collection. She explained to me that she was inspired by her grandmothers collection of costumes from Ballet Russe. In this collection, ʻDieu Bleuʼ, she brings together triangles and arrow graphics with textured prints and slight signs of wear and tear. Through PARTIMI, Eleanorʼs aim is to merge fashion with environmental sustainability and organic materials.

The collaboration with jewellery designer Joanna Cave for this collection is a perfect match. Both designers strive to keep environmental awareness at the core of their work and they share a similar style that goes very well together. Her pieces combine use of recycled materials and ethically sourced gems.

ECO-FAB CANADIAN DESIGNER DALIA MACPHEE, THE IT-GIRL OF RED CARPET GLAMOUR
Vancouver Canada’s Dalia MacPhee is becoming the in demand red carpet designer for evening gowns and dresses. After graduating from the University of British Columbia in business, MacPhee started designing her own ultra feminine gowns. Although she still lives part time in Canada, her gowns are manufactured in Hollywood, California.
Comedian Niecy Nash, who became known for loving her ‘jiggly parts’ on Dancing with the Stars, doesn’t fit the standard size 2 sample sizes, and is a loyal fan of Dalia MacPhee’s designs. This is one of the great parts about MacPhee’s designs. Her complete line of gowns range from size 0 to size 20. Her dresses don’t fit the typical red carpet couture prices either, which can run up to $15 000. MacPhee’s designs are reasonably priced with the majority of the gowns retailing for under $400. No more knock-off designs of couture gowns after the award shows – with MacPhee we can get the real thing!

Beautiful Soul Interview

We’ve met Beautiful Soul at the London Fashion Week and have been following her ever since.
Her eco-friendly approach is inspiring and we wanted to find out more about Beautiful Soul and how it all came about.
How did it all start?
Beautiful Soul: As a young girl, my dream was to be a fashion designer and I even remember writing to ‘Jim’ll Fix It’, to make this possible!
Life has twists and turns and as a head strong at 16 year old, I just wanted to leave school and earn my own living. I ended up working in the Insurance Industry, and soon became wrapped up in the rat race.
I worked as an Insurance Broker for 11 years and the lifestyle it provided me seemed to outweigh my lack of passion for my work. I dressed in a suit daily and the most creative duty I had was producing PowerPoint presentations for my clients! …Crazy!
