Emerging Fervour

Since being the proud owner of the ‘Shoe Design’ book, I’ve opened it many times and love it.

Its aim is to show us a variety of creativity found in footwear design today. Rachel Jones and Aki Choklat, the editors, have certainly managed that with amazing photos of shoes from nearly 50 designers all over the world.

From classics such as Christian Louboutin or Manolo Blahnik

to the quirky creations of Terry de Havilland or Natacha Marro

or to the absolute crazy ones of Eelko Moorer or Marloes Ten Bhömer

the striking images do the designers tribute.

So who is your favourite shoe designer?

Well ok not literally but it’s as good. My favourite shoe designer Christian Louboutin has teamed up with the famous patisserie Laduree.

Being able to eat macaroons and look at shoes at the same time, heaven!! The limited edition boxes are so cute and the macaroons are a worthy inside as they are deliciously light, fluffy and really colourful, the perfect gift!!  On top of the box the macaroons were created by Louboutin himself and Ladurée chief pâtissier Philippe Andrieu, who knew he was a dab hand in the kitchen?

They should be available from September 11 and come in 3 different sizes. For £9.80 for a box of six this might be the first Louboutin I own!!

The other day at work I overheard the end tail of a conversation between two designers. It was the simple words: “I just bought her a pair of gladiator sandals.”

I couldn’t help but turn around and check if I heard it right, he bought his girlfriend shoes!! It turned out he bought her some for her birthday and even more amazing, the other one bought his wife a pair of Christian Louboutin soles for her last birthday!!! Yes, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN’s!!!! How fabulous is that?!

I had to congratulate them on being so thoughtful as I’m sure for many of you out there, opening a box to find a pair of Louboutins or any other brand of shoe is just the best feeling ever! I have been lucky enough to have had this experience a couple of times and although it wasn’t a pair of Louboutins, the sheer thought that went into choosing the perfect shoe made it the perfect present for me.
