To all emerging designers: Vancouver Fashion Week wants you

We’ve been contacted by Vancouver Fashion Week this week asking if we knew any young, upcoming designers designers who would be interested in displaying their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection in April. A bit short notice but as you lovely designers must still be in full Fashion Week mode you might be ready!

This season is Vancouver Fashion Week’s 10th anniversary taking place from April 12th – 17th, bringing together Canada’s most influential fashion designers and promoting the ever-expanding West Coast fashion scene. Perfect opportunity to go across the pond to a country I absolutely love and has its own amazing designers but it’s time to inject a bit of international fashion there.

They have two designer packages available including various numbers of models, access passes and so on costing between C$2500 – C$5000 + 12% HST (I’d love to know how that compares to the other Fashion Weeks….) – oh and bear in mind flight on top of that (“,)

So if you’re ready for Canada, contact us or Johanna (+1 778.628.4110).

C’est Jol!

The C’est Jol! AW collection of necklaces and cuffs, by designer Alison Dawson is absolutely beautiful. Based in Toronto, Canada – Alison explores the sculptural and aesthetic qualities in materials such as cords, piping and tapes, which provide the basis for her concept and design inspiration.

Check out a couple of pieces from her latest collection.

ECO-FAB CANADIAN DESIGNER DALIA MACPHEE, THE IT-GIRL OF RED CARPET GLAMOUR

Vancouver Canada’s Dalia MacPhee is becoming the in demand red carpet designer for evening gowns and dresses. After graduating from the University of British Columbia in business, MacPhee started designing her own ultra feminine gowns. Although she still lives part time in Canada, her gowns are manufactured in Hollywood, California.

Comedian Niecy Nash, who became known for loving her ‘jiggly parts’ on Dancing with the Stars, doesn’t fit the standard size 2 sample sizes, and is a loyal fan of Dalia MacPhee’s designs.  This is one of the great parts about MacPhee’s designs. Her complete line of gowns range from size 0 to size 20. Her dresses don’t fit the typical red carpet couture prices either, which can run up to $15 000. MacPhee’s designs are reasonably priced with the majority of the gowns retailing for under $400. No more knock-off designs of couture gowns after the award shows – with MacPhee we can get the real thing!

Can a gym outfit make you fit?

LULULEMON

We think so or at least that is how we felt when we got sucked into the LuluLemon concept in Canada.

We have long been admiring a pair of LuluLemon yoga trousers of a friend that look fab and make the most amazing bum. So when we finally went on holiday to Canada a couple of weeks ago she took us straight there!!

And we are convinced by just entering the shop we became healthier!!

LuluLemon athletica makes technical clothing for yoga, dancing, running, and most other sweaty pursuits. They pride themselves in creating components for people to live longer, healthier, and have more fun lives. It’s not just clothes, they have built a whole community around the brand.

But all of this aside, we love them as their sweat pants are so comfy yet make a fabulous figure. Each trousers have a little pocket on the back to put the key in for the locker!! Fab! But my personal favourite is that the zip tag on the hoodies also converts into a hair band, how ingenious is that? How often have you forgotten the hair band when you’re in the changing room of the gym?
