Fact And Fancy: Super U

I don’t know how I could ignore the Brighton based sextet Super U and their debut album “We Live In Bazakhstan” for more than six months. This record is like a universal weapon and I mean it in the most irenic sense. It makes you happy, when you’re sad. It makes you happier when you’re already happy. And if you listen to it every day for a few times, you may become the happiest person on this planet. I’m speaking from my own experience, you can call me cheshire cat from now on. Their catchy indie-britpop-rock fired my imagination, so I made up some rumours about them and their music and curiously waited what they had to say…

Download the song “What News From Cornwall” for free!

First rumour: The band is named after a French supermarket ‘Super U’ in Biarritz, where Matt Barr and Ewan Wallace first met during holidays. A fight for the last piece of goat cheese evolved into a profound friendship.

Junkboy – Koyo

If you’re still searching for the summer, you should stop watching the weather report and just buy a copy of Junkboy‘s fourth album Koyo. From the very beginning this album is just as beautiful as a perfect summer day can be. Fortunately you don’t have to wait until May 31st when Koyo will be released, Emerging Fervour exclusively presents the song Pieces in the sky from the album to download for free. On top of this, Rich and Mik Hanscomb took the time to answer a few questions and played a little game called “Guess that tune” with us…

Before we start to talk about your music, I think we need a short round of introductions for our readers.
So, who is Junkboy?

Hello, I’m Rich Hanscomb. My brother, Mik, and I formed Junkboy many years ago when we were in our teens. Junkboy is basically the soundtrack of our lives. We’ve had various people come in and out of the fold but we’re the core. We’ve been joined for the past couple of years by the lovely Ryan Oliver. He can’t be here right now as he has a busy job in website optimization. Very Brighton. You understand.

Classic yet kitsch with a bit of Alice in Wonderland…

01

…is what we’d call the cutest cardigans we have come across in a long time.

Jojo & Mac is behind the brain child of Cindy Tsang, who has been dressing the girls of Brighton with her own design tees and sweats for the last two years.

It all started winter 2008, when Cindy customised a vintage cardigan using gingham bows, costume pearls and pineapple shaped buttons. The aim was to mix classic shapes with playful twists.

Having a fascination with contrasting prints, shapes, fabric, and styles it comes as no surprise that her first collection is what she is about; her animal motifs are strong, polka dot and heart prints add some romanticism, whilst gingham ribbons and bow shapes buttons add to the kitsch factor, making them cute as hell and very adorable.

We are so excited to welcome Jojo & Mac into the fashion world and will embrace it as soon as their collection hits the shop.
