Christmas came early in my chilly little flat when the lovely team at Isabella Oliver heard my cry for winter coat.

Having decided that this winter I was actually going to find a real coat rather than my usual jacket nonsense, I scoured about a billion different sites for a coat that would fit my wish list:

- fit over my enormous knits without causing that fabric bunching that makes me so stroppy
- reach my knees to keep my bum warm
- pockets (real ones that work)
- work day to night

This beautiful parcel turned up at my door the day the snow flurries started and I fell in love instantly.

I am not a fan of heavy coats – I find them cumbersome and difficult to wear with layers so this lightweight but warm fabric really works well. Over the last few days I have reversed it quite a few times to work with jeans, then over my LBD for a Christmas party – not one of my friends realised it was the same coat. Perfect.

I am quite tall at nearly 6′ so I was very happy to find that this was long enough on me and because the belt is not held in loops, I can wear it at the right point on me. I can’t turn up the sleeves as they suggest but it still looks great, covers my wrists and I’ve teamed it with some cute gloves.
