I love this emerging footwear designer…Clementine Baxter
Clementine Baxter obtained a first-class degree from Cordwainers, part of London College of Fashion, having begun this brand as part of her degree work. She created her label, Clementine Shoes based on inspiration from the art world, with particular reference to sculpture and architecture. The bold shapes and constrasting colours really make these pieces stand out.
Her work is a labour of love…the shoes are made with so much dedication and passion, with hours and hours being spent on hundreds of 2D and 3D sketches, until the hundreds of sketches are wittled down to the final few that make it into her collection.
I go on about how much I love detail…anything that is made with an ounce of passion is such a pull for me, in fact I think detail is key to style – but that’s another story. Clementine is no exception, no detail is ever an after-thought and each design detail is constructed after so much thought. Work begins with hundreds of sketches in both 2D and 3D before ruthlessly discarding and reworking until finally the collection emerges. Being part Italian, style is in her blood, and only the finest quality Italian leather is used; all these factors definitely justify the price tag.
For all you die-hard East Londoners…the shoes are all hand-made in your part of town so support your local craftsmen and shop this fabulous designer!

Go nude for Spring/Summer 10

Nude is everywhere this Spring/Summer and you won’t get away from it. It can work amazingly well or you might turn into a ghost and it washes you completely out (as one of the models shows, above; she looks like she needs a good meal and some sun).
I’m hesitant to put myself in nude as, with a winter complexion, I feel it washes me out or maybe I have not found the right shade yet. I can however accessories in nude and as I’ve been looking for ages for some nude shoes, I’m chuffed it’s coming back and the selection is getting better by the day. A good nude shoe will not only elongate your legs but also go with everything in your wardrobe, and you know it will stick around and then come back, they are an investment!!
I’ve searched the internet wide and far and have put my top finds together. My winners belong sadly in the designer world and might break the bank, but they are just so delicious I have to share them and don’t worry, I found some high-street beauties too.
Are high heels healthier than trainers?
I kid you not but yes they are! Well… they are still not the healthiest but at least a new study reported in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s journal has found that runners who wear typical, modern running shoes do more damage to their hip, knee and ankle joints than running while barefoot or wearing high-heeled shoes.
The research was based on 68 healthy female runners with an average age of 37 years old. They provided each of them with a typical running shoe and collected data on their joints using a motion analysis system while they ran on a treadmill with the sneakers and barefoot.
What would you do? Stop running, run in heels or barefoot?
Oh no, a shoe is not just a shoe!
How you can walk in them, we don’t know but they certainly are showstoppers!!
The Fast Company have put piece up about 13 amazing high-concept shoes which include cutting edge material and techniques which we just had to pass on.
They are amazing and although undoubtedly not very comfortable, I’d love some in a show case!!

Andreia Chaves’ Invisible Shoe, invisible as it will blend in with the environment and so handy when you need a mirror.

Andreia Chaves’ Form & Texture Shoe, I can’t stop thinking Jenga

Marloes ten Bhömer shoe is made of leather and carbon fibre, the individual pieces were formed individually and then assembled to create a fractured collage, they actually look wearable.

And who could forget Alexander McQueen’s crazy creations for his Spring 10 collection?
Check out the rest of them at Fast Company site.
We’ve also found a few more, make up your own mind if they are wearable or not…

Check out these goodies we found
We’ve been told about some amazing sales, perfect for a bit of early Christmas shopping… for myself!!
Fashion flash back – military style in 1994
We all know the world and fashion goes round and round. I’ve stumbled across a video about the military trends in 1994 and you could easily wear quite a few of the outfits and fit right into the military trend. Oh and spot a young Naomi and Kate Moss in there!!
I do prefer the 2009 version though as it’s become much more edgy.
Check out these fabulous coats and shoes that bring any wardrobe up to date.

We’re turning Vegan!!
1st November was ‘World Vegan Day’ and what better way to celebrate than with buying shoes!! And if we think Vegan shoes, no other than ‘Beyond Skin’ comes to mind.
If you associate Vegan shoes with brown or earthy coloured sandals you couldn’t be further away from it. ‘Beyond Skin’s AW09 collection is not only beautiful but amazingly wearable as heel types (my favourite cone heel is of course available too) and heights are perfect to be worn all day.
