Jacob Kimmie AW2011/12 catwalk

Jacob Kimmie

Another anticipated catwalk as Jacob Kimmie has been one of our favourites. Not only amazing designs but also one of the nicest designers we’ve met.

Jacob Kimmie

As we were waiting for the show to begin, we had lovely models keeping us company – didn’t harm that they looked rather dishy, even if they seemed to wear nappies…

Jacob Kimmie

Jakob Kimmie’s latest collection is called Martyr alluding to neoclassicism and touches on gothic, sacred themes. Complex yet subtle pieces combine Kimmie’s genius in hi-art ritual dressing. And it couldn’t have shown at a better venue! Freemasons Hall suited this theme and when you walked in the church music playing, set the mood instantly.

Lako Bukia presents ‘CHOXA’

Lako Bukia

Lako Bukia is another designer which has gone from strength to strength and we’ve been following her ever since her debut a couple of seasons ago.

The AW11 collection ‘CHOXA’ is inspired by the Georgian National Ballet Men’s costume with the same name ‘choxa’. It features covetable dresses, shirts, skirts and leather trousers in a stunning palette of colours – loved it and especially the browns, wine red and pastel colours felt so sumptuous!

Just check out the boots! Lako Bukia always produces stunning ‘signature heel’ shoes with each collections and for this season also black leather, high boots – these are just amazing!

Lako Bukia
Mh, maybe a bit drafty for some of us… but the cut on this jumpsuit is amazing and one of our favourite pieces in this collection.

Eudon Choi “Haute école” Catwalks

Eudon Choi

["Haute école "] the purest and advanced component of Classical Dressage; a highly refined set of skills seldom used in competition

Inspired by equestrian paraphernalia, clean sculptured lines and strong silhouettes are effortlessly individual. Mixed fabrications and luxurious panels of leather, Toscana fur and wool cashmere are offset by salient hardwear. It follows perfectly from the previous seasons collection and you can instantly see it’s Eudon Choi.

Choi uses sports influences of double lined jersey, a robust yet supple fabric found in horse riding kit. Saddlery is further referenced in a collaboration with London accessories label Jas M B. Harnesses and jewellery inspired by the S&M photography of Robert Mapplethorpe have been produced in the brand’s signature leathers restricting and accentuating the female form.

Ones To Watch Catwalk

As every year this is the one catwalk which we love the most as you get to watch 4 catwalks in one hit but it’s also the 4 brightest new emerging stars in the fashion world.

Anja Mlakar

Anja Mlakar A/W 2011/12 Collection

Her debut ‘Blue Tube’ collection echoes elements of the three dimensional and sensual silhouettes; while clean lines and a muted colour palette signify her venture into a new breed of elegance.

Jasper Garvida presents his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection ‘Le Baiser’

Jasper Garvida A/W 2011/12 Collection

We do love a bit of luxury (even if we can’t quite afford it…) so Jasper Garvida, luxury womens’ wear fashion designer, is right up our street and his collection is one of the favourites I’ve seen – although I am known to love sleek, classical, wearable styles.

Jasper Garvida A/W 2011/12 Collection

Inspired by the novel ‘Soie’ by Alessandro Baricco – a romantic tale of a European man who becomes enchanted by the east – the collection focuses on contrasts, and the beauty that can be formed when two different worlds intertwine. With elements of 19th century design combined with an oriental silhouette, the collection incorporates strong streamlined tailoring and soft draping with demure skirt lengths that have been given a sexy edge in the form of daring slits and peek-a-boo cut-outs to reveal flashes sensuality.

The slick tailoring, armour-like-hand-embellishment and textured pieces are combined with beautiful, softly draped silk jersey and, lace pieces that depict the journey of two opposite worlds meeting, to create balance, harmony, grace and elegance – all of which serves to add an intriguing romantic undertone to the collection.

Ada Zanditon’s A/W 2011 Collection

Ada Zanditon A/W 2011/12 collection

We started Day 1 of London Fashion Week at On/Off where Ada Zanditon was showing her A/W 2011/12 collection ‘THE CRYOFLUX’.

Zanditon has been going from strength to strength and the venue was packed as her film was shown and you could feel the buzz about her new collection.

This season she’s taken inspiration from the extreme climate of Antarctica, the theme can be discovered in the engineered print of the Antarctic; the colour palette of navy, marine, flame and dark flame; the fluidity and structural elements of the fabrics as well as the exaggerated and asymmetrical lines of the garments.

The collection features a range of dresses, from tailored influences to fluid looser asymmetric shift dresses. True to form, Zanditon has included a selection of sensational showpiece dresses, inspired by the captivating natural formations of the Antarctic broken, frozen waterfalls.

The Jewellery, which once again sees Zanditon collaborating with Luca Romanyi, features printed tile, silver chain, black vegetable-tanned leather and metal in a range of geometric shapes. One word: WICKED!

Liria Pristine

Remember that piece I did on PristineSmut, the duo who create fabulous pieces from knitwear? Well, Liria Pristine has gone solo with her first collection (also knitwear) titled Adapted, Deliverance. Check it out…

Liria Pristine at Emerging Fervour

‘Adapted Deliverance’ is inspired by Liria’s recent stay in Sao Paulo. Not one to let us down, the designs are still as eye-catching as you’d expect from Pristine.

Another day, another protest.

Ok, it’s still kicking off here in Beirut…more protests have erupted after a Hezbollah-backed Najib Mikati was appointed Lebanese PM (removing the usualpower-sharing system, where the post of prime minister is reserved for a Sunni, while the president must be a Maronite Christian and the speaker of parliament a Shia). I won’t go into details because I will go on 10,000 words so if you’re interested – check out the full story on BBC online.

So, this basically means that I haven’t been to my classes since yesterday and I’m hoping this get’s resolved ASAP please because I’ve got some pretty interesting things going on at the moment. Take for example, making a SHIRT! Yessss, look at me and my talk of making shirts!! Before the Christmas hols I had just finished creating my skirt – check my post. On Friday I handed in a file for 3 shirts (1 normal fitted, 1 fitted with enlargements and another shirt according to a picture) and this week we’re learning how to create a three-piece shirt with buttoning tab above the ‘teet’ as our teacher would say. All very exciting stuff.

For our design course, we have a project due in on the 2nd of February where we have to create a small collection for AW2011 with 6 shirts, 4 trousers and 4 skirts… and of these 14 pieces we had to draw 2 figurines each with a shirt and trousers and shirt and skirt. The theme is transportation and I chose the old steam trains because it seems that I am really into sharp lines and shapes so this was perfect….
